Asbestos Inspection of Churches

Since the introduction of the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations in 2002 there is a legal requirement to manage the risk of asbestos within all church buildings. The principal duty that affects churches is the making of a suitable and sufficient assessment as to whether asbestos is or is liable to be present in the premises – this duty is usually met through the undertaking of an asbestos management survey. Once the risks have been identified then they must be regularly assessed and managed.

As well as the legal requirement to manage the risks from asbestos Ecclesiastical Insurance and the Quinquennial inspection both require that an asbestos survey report is in place for the church.

Hatch Consultancy is a small local company that offers independent asbestos inspections to churches throughout Devon and the south-west.  It has extensive experience in undertaking asbestos inspections of Churches and is currently the chosen contractor for providing asbestos inspections and asbestos management to the Diocese of Plymouth.
