Asbestos Awareness Training

Asbestos Awareness Training

Regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2012 requires that every employer shall give appropriate asbestos training to its employees. Hatch Consultancy provides general Asbestos Awareness Training.

This training is for those persons who are liable to disturb asbestos while carrying out their normal everyday work, or who may influence how work is carried out, such as:

General maintenance workers; electricians; plumbers, painters and decorators; construction workers; heating and ventilation engineers; telecommunication engineers; demolition workers; fire/burglar alarm installers and computer installers.

The asbestos awareness training includes the following topics:

  • The properties of asbestos and its effects on health, including the increased risk of developing lung cancer for asbestos workers who smoke;
  • The types, uses and likely occurrence of asbestos and asbestos materials in buildings and plant;
  • The general procedures to deal with an emergency, e.g. an uncontrolled release of asbestos dust into the workplace; and
  • How to avoid the risk of exposure to asbestos.
