Asbestos Survey of Communal Areas in Devon & Cornwall

Since the introduction of the Control of Asbestos Regulations there is a duty to manage the risk from asbestos in all non-domestic premises.  The catch here is that this does not exclude communal areas of shared residential properties.

If you are the managing agent of residential flats then you are required to manage the risk of asbestos in all communal areas – this typically includes halls, stairwells and any other shared space.  In order to manage these risks it is typically required to carry out an asbestos management survey.

In addition if you are a private owner of a flat when you want to sell your property the solicitors will request a copy of the asbestos register for the communal areas of the property.
