Asbestos Audits

Asbestos Audits

The quality of the various asbestos consultancies and the individuals employed by them varies to an enormous extent.  Whilst UKAS accreditation does go some way to ensuring that a company is proficient, surveys could be undertaken by individuals with as little as 6 months’ experience. It is, therefore, not surprising that the quality of some asbestos surveys or the reports produced ranges from mediocre to poor.

Third party asbestos audits are a valuable method for ensuring that a high quality service is provided and ultimately that no-one is accidentally exposed to asbestos.

Our asbestos audits are conducted to check for compliance with HSE guidance and legislation.

Types of Auditing

Site Survey Audits

Site audits can be undertaken to help ensure that the surveying company appointed have identified all asbestos containing materials as far as is reasonably practicable.

Survey Report Audits

Unless the survey report is accurate and clearly shows where asbestos has been identified ,then it is not worth the paper it is written on. Any caveats within the report should be pre-agreed with the client and should not merely be an excuse by the surveyor.

The report audit will focus on ensuring that the report complies with HSE guidance and legislation, has been undertaken in accordance with the agreed survey scope as well as focusing on the transfer of site information to the final report.
